I was in total bliss, so I fell asleep without realizing it. A vibrating sound coming from the side table woke me up. I grabbed my phone and saw it was almost 5.00 PM. I had received a text message from Saddie. Damned! I had totally forgotten about her! I was such a lousy friend!

“Joe, is everything alright? I’m worried… ”

Watching Ash sleeping next to me, I sighed. It must have woken him up as well because he stretched and smiled at me. I quickly typed a few words. Poor Saddie! She had driven all the way from Oregon to Monty Valley to see me, and within a few days, she had discovered I was living with a gang of outlaws. It must have been a shock, but the worst was I had asked her to break the law. Not even the time spent with Gale would make up for it.

“Sorry not to have texted sooner! I almost fell asleep behind the wheel, so I crashed at Ash’s place. I’m just waking up. I’ll be on my way in a few minutes. ”
